Alumni President's Message

Document Actions

Mumme.jpgFollowing a gentle nudge from our College President, Dr. Hurley, Board of Trustees, staff, alumni and the ongoing efforts of the Trocaire Institutional Advancement Department, I am excited to say we have definitely “revived” this alumni association.

Our alumni association is composed of over 8,400 alumni graduates who share like-minded careers and interests. The mission of the alumni association is to establish and maintain an active, visible, and interested group of alumni.  Their purpose will strengthen and support public and community collaborations at the college, while fostering new partnerships that are mutually beneficial to the community, and supportive of the college mission.

We know that Trocaire College is a small school with a small town presence.  By keeping in touch, you begin to look back and reminisce about the days when you were a student at Trocaire.  It opens up that door to renew old ties and new friendships.  Here are some of the past events our Alumni Board and fellow members have sponsored:

Also, let me take a moment to share with you some of the initiatives our Alumni Board and fellow members are pursuing for 2010-2011:

Mentoring Committee

In the near future, we will begin encourage alumni to become volunteer mentors for current students. Offering information about your career history can help put a student at ease. Since students are trying to learn as much as possible about different career paths, you can make a difference by offering career advice, engaging, and sharing your positive Trocaire school and career experiences. Help inspire students to find internships with current businesses; and continue to create a meaningful volunteer experience for yourself, together with faculty, staff, current students and prospective students in the community.

Events & Planning Committee
Looking for new volunteer opportunities or old friends? You’ve come to the right place! Count on meeting like-minded graduates with lots of spirit and talents to share. Alumni who wish to donate their time to the college may participate in alumni sponsored events primarily focused on fundraising for student scholarships and college events. Volunteering can help us to learn from each other, contribute to the educational, economic, and cultural vitality of the region and broaden the scope of the educational experience.

Nominations Committee
We are looking for nominations for our Distinguished Alumni Award. Please take a moment to explore the contributions that fellow alumnus/a who inspired you, and send us your nomination.

Through our website, alumni newsletter, reunions, and events in and out of school, graduates have many opportunities to stay connected. Using Trocaire College’s Facebook fanpage, alumni graduates can connect to each other and share their “memory book” experiences. So, get hooked on Trocaire’s alumni volunteer opportunities by joining the alumni board, or just stay in touch for updates on our website. We know there are many demands on your time, so we invite you to join us in 2010 when you’re ready!
