Trocaire College recently celebrated the opening of its new extension site, the Russell J. Salvatore School of Hospitality & Business, located at 6681 Transit Road in Lancaster. The 7,000 square foot facility houses a 1,000 square foot kitchen for culinary art instruction, a high-tech computer network lab, several classrooms, faculty offices, and a student resource center.
Classes in business, hospitality and computer networking began last month at the suburban location. This new site provides students with the most sophisticated hands-on learning environment. "Students will be able to experience the latest in classroom technology," noted Hal P. Kingsley, director of Business and Computer Network Administration programs. "Every room is equipped with full multi-media presentation and Smart Board technology and the computer lab is second-to-none in our area."
Hospitality students benefit from the culinary art instructional kitchen - the showpiece of the Transit Road facility. "The culinary training center is equipped with both high end commercial appliances and the latest in 'smart' classroom technology," stated Jim Carlo, Hospitality program director. This environment will enable our students to learn through traditional academic methods and immediately apply this knowledge in a practical manner." In addition, the program offers students hands-on experience through a unique partnership with Salvatore properties. Hospitality students have the opportunity to intern at both the Garden Place Hotel and Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant, increasing their real-world experiences.
