Are you interested in a rewarding professional health care career?  Why not consider Trocaire College's Diagnostic Radiologic Technology program?  Radiologic (X-ray) Technology is the use of x-rays to produce diagnostic medical images for use in the diagnosing and treating of injuries and diseases.


Trocaire's Radiologic Technology program:

  • is the only DIAGNOSTIC program in Erie County
  • is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology
  • has a competency based curriculum that incorporates both didactic and clinical components
  • has over 20 clinical education centers used as student affiliation sites  
  • offers matriculated students the opportunities to observe various specialty imaging areas, such as CT (Computerized Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), DMS (Diagnostic Medical Sonography), and many others

Graduates of the Radiologic Technology program are employed in a variety of settings such as hospitals, free- standing clinics and orthopedic offices. The College has an established Radiologic Technology Club expressly for the RT students.  The club aims to bring together students to promote personal and professional growth, as well as advocate and support the profession.  The club also offers RT scholarship money.

Admission Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma (minimum 85% average) or GED Diploma with a minimum score of 2750
  2. Math I, Math II, Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  3. 2.75 cumulative average with minimum grades of "C" in laboratory sciences for current & transfer students
  4. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required for clinical experiences
  5. Students applying for programs in the health professions are required to participate in two stages of academic preparedness. Initial admittance to a health science program places a student into a "pre-professional" component. Admittance into the "professional" component is not guaranteed. Students must meet established academic standards and are also ranked for admission in nursing programs based on an overall QPA and grades in Anatomy and Physiology I. Students should speak with an admissions counselor or Program Director prior to registration to insure they understand all of the academic requirements for advancement in the program of their choice.

Minimum Degree Requirements:

  1. A total of at least 78 semester hours with a Quality Point Average of 2.0.  This includes an eight week summer clinical component following the first year and second years' course work
  2. Core Curriculum Requirements:

    College Seminar (GS100) or College Success (GS102) - minimum C+ grade required
    Computer Studies (CS132)
    Humanities (EN101, EN102)
    Natural Science* (BIO130/130L, BIO131/131L)
    Philosophy (PH103, PH205)
    Social Science (PSY101 and one, 3 credit Social Science elective)

  3. Program Requirements:*

**When a Radiologic Technology student completes an application for New York State Licensure, and the A.R.R.T.(R), questions are asked about conviction of a crime and pending charges.  These questions appear on both application forms.  If the answers are in the affirmative, particulars and disposition of each charge must be listed.  A conviction is not an automatic bar to licensure and registry, however, each case is considered and investigated on its individual merits.
