The United States and New York State governments provide educational funding to students in the form of grants. These monies do not have to repaid. The grants and their requirements are listed below. When a student fills out their personal and financial data for aid, this information will be used do determine qualifications for these grants. The Financial Aid Office at Trocaire will inform students of the grants they will receive.


There are four types of Federal grants, but only three pertain to students attending two-year colleges. They are...


Federal Grants


Pell

Awarded to undergraduates. Grant is based on student’s financial need.

The amount changes each year. Currently, $400-$4,310 per year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Awarded to undergraduates based on “exceptional” financial need.

The amount changes each year. Currently, $250-$5,000.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

Awarded to students who receive Pell, have completed a rigorous high school program, and graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2007 and Jan. 1, 2006 for second year college students.

The amount of the ACG is $750 in the first academic year of college and $1,300 in the second academic year of college.
