INS 120 Introduction to Insurance (1)
Students will identify and describe the basic principles of insurance as well as how insurance jobs relate to one another. Students will understand how property and liability insurance works and how they relate to one another. This introductory course tells the story of “insurance people” and how they make insurance work. (Fall Semester)
INS 121 Property and Liability Insurance Principles (3)
Students become familiar with the principles that underlie property and liability insurance. Students are introduced to insurance contracts, insurance marketing, underwriting, claims adjustment, risk management, and general policy provisions. (Fall Semester)
INS 222 Personal Insurance (3)
Students analyze personal loss exposures and personal insurance coverages including homeowners and other dwelling coverages, personal liability, inland marine, auto, life, health, and government programs. (Fall Semester)
INS 223 Commercial Insurance (3)
Students analyze commercial loss exposures and coverages including property, business income, inland and ocean marine, crime, boiler and machinery, general liability, business auto, workers compensation, farm and business owners, as well as miscellaneous liability coverages, surety, and excess and surplus lines. (Spring Semester)
INS 274 Internship I (2)
Students in the Insurance Professional Studies program will complete 120 hours of internship experience over two semesters. In each semester the student will receive two hours of credit for 60 hours of supervised on-the-job work experience in either an insurance agency or an insurance company. (Fall Semester)
INS 275 Internship II (2)
A supervised on-the-job work experience in either an insurance agency or an insurance company. The student will receive two hours of credit for 60 hours of internship. (Spring Semester)
INS 282 Multiple Lines Insurance Production (3)
Multiple-Lines Insurance Production (MLP) consists of three segments: Commercial Liability Insurance, Other Commercial Insurance, and Specialized Insurance and Bonds. Special emphasis will be placed on the insurance product and insurance markets in the context of commercial lines coverages. (Spring Semester)
