Important Update: Veterans - Are you waiting for your VA Education Benefits??
The Department of Veterans Affairs has made funds available for Veteran students who are still awaiting their education benefit claim to be processed. Eligible veterans can receive up to a $3000 advance, which will be recouped from future benefit payments. If you are a student who applied for one of VA’s education programs and have not yet received your monthly benefit payment for the Fall 2009 term, you can request a one-time advance payment at your local VA Regional Office or through VA’s website, www.va.gov.
Trocaire College was one of the first colleges in Western New York to provide tuition assistance to our returning Iraqi and Afghanistan veterans in appreciation for their service to our country. We are proud to have all our veterans and reservists as students and the number of both attending Trocaire continues to grow each year. Thanks to the support of the federal and state governments as well as the college, there is significant financial support to attend Trocaire.
There are a variety of financial assistance programs available to reservists, veterans and their dependents all based on an individual’s personal military service record. To help you determine which program applies to you, visit the federal website for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the New York State for Higher Education Services website. Both websites provide specific information for all government sponsored financial aid programs. In addition to these websites, you can contact the Erie County Department of Veterans Affairs - this county office will provide you with any assistance you may need.
The Erie County Veterans Service Agency has created a virtual map of local resources for our veterans' community. Click on the desired map icon to view its content and information. Each icon represents an organization or institution that provides services to veterans.
The college also has a Veterans Advocate representative who can be reached by contacting the Admissions Office at 716-827-2545. This advocate is available to assist you before and during your time at Trocaire.
The following procedures should be taken by all veterans and reservists wishing to attend Trocaire College:
- Apply to the college.
- Submit all official copies of high school, military, or college transcripts to the Admissions Office.
- Submit to the Registrars Office a copy of your DD214 Discharge
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the New York State’s Tuition Assistance Program Application (TAP) and the New York State Veterans Tuition Award Form (Veterans only).
- Make an appointment with the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices
Additional benefits and information:
