The courses offered in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Program leading to the Associate of Science degree enable students to acquire the background in sciences and mathematics, and to develop and refine their skills in logic, reasoning, observation, critical thinking, analysis, and global awareness. These skills are necessary to prepare for a variety of career paths. This degree prepares for transfer into four-year programs, and is useful for learning and skill enhancement, as well as for exploring new career opportunities. The Liberal Arts and Sciences courses are available during Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions, both day and evening, either on a full or part-time basis.

 


Admission Requirements:

High School Diploma (minimum 75% average) or

GED Diploma with a minimum score of 2500

 

Minimum Degree Requirements:

  1. A total of at least 64 semester hours with a Quality Point Average of 2.0
  2. Program Requirements:*

    College Seminar (GS100) or College Success (GS102) - minimum grade of C+ required             
    Humanities (EN101, EN102 and Art or Music Literature)                                                          
    Natural Science (BIO105 or CH100 and BIO130/130L, BIO131/131L, BIO223/223L)                                                                                                                                   Philosophy/Religious Studies (PH103, PH201, RS108)
    Social Science Elective (PSY101, PSY102)

  3. Program Electives (Choose from):
    Free Electives (3 credits)
    History (6 credits)
    Liberal Arts (6 credits)**
    Mathematics/Natural Science (6-8 credits)
    Social Science (3 credits)

* A minimum grade of "C" (2.0) is required in these courses

** Liberal Arts electives include all courses offered in the Liberal Arts Division

***Credit may not be given for both PH107 and MA107
