Training Programs for Healthcare Providers
BUFFALO, N.Y. - A series of training programs for individuals employed in healthcare professions will be offered in October through Trocaire’s Workforce Development Department.
Fundamentals of Mammography is available to Radiologic Technologist’s or second-year Radiologic Technology students. All aspects of mammography including positioning, quality assurance, breast anatomy and physiology and equipment operations will be covered. This course begins on Wednesday, October 3 from 4:00 pm – 8:15 pm.
A hands-on Massage Technique class will be held on Saturday, October 6 from 9:00am – 4:00pm. A review of various massage techniques as well as new therapies will be presented. Participants will walk away with practical treatment techniques which can be used immediately in practice.
The EKG Technician/Cardiac Monitor Technician training program prepares EKG Technicians and Cardiac Monitor Technicians for entry-level positions in hospitals and physician offices. The program includes role responsibilities and duties, medical terminology, anatomy of the heart, use of equipment and supplies, understanding vital signs and the psychosocial needs of the cardiac patient. Thirty hours of lecture and a clinical component of 5 full-time days in area hospitals are required for program completion. This course begins Wednesday, October 10.
New York State Mandated Infection Control Training will be offered on Monday, October 29. Every licensed practical nurse, optometrist, physician, physician assistant, podiatrist, registered professional nurse and specialist assistant practicing in New York State is required to receive training in infection control and barrier precautions. A certificate of completion will be issued upon completion of the program.
