Lydell Fortune chosen for CUPA-HR Wildfire Program

BUFFALO, N.Y. -  Lydell Fortune, Compliance and Diversity Coordinator at Trocaire College, has been chosen as a member of the inaugural class of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) Wildfire program for 2014-2015.

This 12-month leadership development experience will connect a small, select group of early-career higher education HR professionals with CUPA-HR, key association leaders, and multiple learning opportunities.  Components of the program include: an orientation to the program and CUPA-HR, attendance at the CUPA-HR Annual Conference and Expo this September, tailored learning experiences including shadowing a CUPA-HR leader, and the creation of a personal development plan.

Fortune was one of only six applicants chosen from a pool of over 200 applicants.  “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program,” said Fortune.  “I believe the ability to be able to collaborate and network with national leaders in higher education human resources at such an early stage of my career will prove invaluable to my professional and personal development.”

Joining Trocaire in April 2014, Fortune is responsible for helping to ensure that the College is in compliance with key laws as well as creating a welcoming environment to attract and retain a diverse employee body.  He will provide training and support for all employees and students, ensuring an inclusive Trocaire environment.

Prior to coming to Trocaire, Fortune was a Human Resources Generalist for the Buffalo Public Schools.  He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a MBA degree, with a concentration in Human Resources, from Strayer University in Virginia.  He is also certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
