G. Richard Braen, MD appointed to Board of Trustees

G. Richard Braen, MD, professor and chair of the department of Emergency Medicine and assistant dean for graduate medical education, SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine, has been named to the Trocaire College Board of Trustees.

“We are honored to have Dr. Braen join our governing board,” said Bassam M. Deeb, Ph.D., president of Trocaire College.  “As a college that offers a variety of healthcare programs, his guidance and expertise in the healthcare field will be invaluable.”

Braen is past president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is an attending physician at Buffalo General Medical Center and Erie County Medical Center.  He has authored, co-authored and edited numerous Emergency Medical textbooks.

Braen earned a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University.  

Trocaire board officers re-elected to one-year terms on the 22 member board responsible for governing the College are:  Sharon L. Hanson, chair, Jonathan T. Swiatkowski, CPA, vice-chair, Robert S. McDow, treasurer, and newly elected secretary Teresa Lawrence, Ph.D.

The following trustees were re-elected to three-year board terms: Sister JoAnne Courneen, RSM, Sister M. Jeanne Thomas Danahy, RSM, James Notaro, Ph.D., Sister Eileen O’Connor, RSM, Thomas Quatroche, Jr., Ph.D., and Sister Sally Walz, RSM.

The Board of Trustees bestowed the position of Board Chair Emeritus on Lisa M. Kirisits, CPA, and re-bestowed the position of Trustee Emeritus on Sister Mary Ann Schimscheiner, RSM.  The honor of Emeritus is given to individuals whose length and quality of service to the College has been outstanding and warrants such recognition.  Kirisits served nine years on the Board of Trustees, three years as board chair.  Schimscheiner served a total of thirteen years as a trustee.
