Alisha J. Taggart-Powell Named Coordinator for Non-Traditional Occupations

BUFFALO, N.Y. -  Alisha J. Taggart-Powell has been named Trocaire College’s coordinator for non-traditional occupations announced President Bassam M. Deeb, Ph.D. 

In this newly created position, Taggart-Powell will focus on increasing the enrollment of underrepresented genders in Trocaire’s healthcare and technology career programs through targeted marketing and recruitment initiatives.  The goal of the position is to educate potential students and the community about opportunities for individuals in non-traditional career paths. 

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to recruit prospective students for rewarding careers in healthcare and science and technology,” said Taggart-Powell.

Taggart-Powell comes to Trocaire from the University at Buffalo where she was senior academic advisor in the School of Nursing.  She has held many leadership positions within the Western New York Community including past President of the Board of Directors for Prevention Focus Inc., Western Region Division Representative for the National Association of Social Workers and past Chair of the Policy Committee for Bethel Head Start. Taggart-Powell is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Buffalo. She currently serves on the Kenmore Merchants Association Discover Delaware Committee.

Taggart-Powell earned her Master in Social Work degree from the University at Buffalo.  She and her husband Rasheen have one son who is majoring in pharmacology at the University of Buffalo.
