Trocaire College Partners with St. Agatha's Parish

In an effort to accommodate an expanding enrollment this fall semester, Trocaire College has entered into an agreement with St. Agatha’s Parish to lease 6400 square feet of space.

The growing number of students, particularly in the health care programs, has necessitated Trocaire to expand beyond its main campus on Choate Avenue.  St. Agatha’s, located on Abbott Road, is just about a mile away and can be easily accessed within minutes of the main campus.  Approximately 70 to 80 licensed practical nursing and registered nursing students are already being taught at this adjunct location.

“This Fall class has seen the largest overall enrollment since 1995 and is a record full-time enrollment in the college’s forty-seven year history,” stated Claudia Lesinski, Enrollment Management Officer.  “We are pleased to be able to provide our students with additional classroom space by utilizing St. Agatha’s.”

This past year, St. Agatha’s Parish School merged with two other parish elementary schools to form Trinity Catholic Academy located on Hayden Street.  Due to this merger of schools, many of St. Agatha’s classrooms have remained empty over the past year.  “Trocaire is very grateful to St. Agatha’s for opening their doors to our students,” remarked Dr. Paul Hurley, President of Trocaire.  “Reverend Adolph Kowalczyk, Pastor of St. Agatha’s, has been very cooperative and attentive to the needs of the college.  It is great to have two South Buffalo Catholic institutions collaborating to create a win-win solution.”

Trocaire began the fall semester on August 29th with a total student body of 1,137 full- and part-time students.  Students major in programs of study in health care, business, technology, education and the liberal arts.
