The Certificate program in Hospitality Management is designed to serve students who plan to enter the workforce in hospitality, as well as those students who are interested in pursuing further education in the area of hospitality, but first wish to obtain a solid background in the major.  This certificate program allows students to focus almost all of their academic work in the core hospitality curriculum.  This program may be ideal for the individual desiring re-training to enter the hospitality industry or for someone who has been in the industry but wishes to obtain an academic credential and/or advance their career.

The curriculum combines traditional classroom learning, hands-on activities and industry internship experience to create a well-rounded learning experience.  The certificate program is also closely aligned with the college's A.A.S. program in Hospitality Management, ensuring a clear path for transfer to a 2-year degree program if desired.

Career opportunities exist in the hospitality industry in hotels, restaurants, clubs, catering operations, food service providers, sales, production, travel and tourism, and many other related areas.  The combination of meaningful classroom instruction, hands-on experience, and the hospitality internship culminate in a focused quality education for tomorrow's hospitality industry leaders.

Admission Requirements:

  • High School diploma (minimum 75% average) or GED diploma with a minimum score of 2500

Minimum Program Requirements:

  • A total of at least 35 semester hours with a Quality Point Average of 2.0
  • General Education Requirements:

  • Program Requirements:*
    HM101, HM102**, HM103, HM204**, HM205, HM207, HM210, HM212, HM276/HM277***.
    Hospitality Electives (6 credits)
  • Other Requirements:
    Uniforms consisting of a chef's coat, black pants, safety shoes, chef hat, name tag, dress white shirt and bow tie are required.
    Transitional Studies courses if applicable

*A minimum grade of "C" (2.0) is required
